Mr. Beast Wasn’t Always Mr. Beast

It’s true…Mr. Beast wasn’t always Mr. Beast.

Like the rest of us, Mr. Beast’s first YouTube video sucked. Seriously, not good.

  • However, unlike a lot of us, Mr. Beast kept making videos, and - surprise, surprise - a lot of those sucked too.

  • Unlike even more of us, Mr. Beast kept making videos AND he studied how people consumed his videos...what they liked, what they didn't like, when they quit his videos, etc

  • Unlike even more of us, Mr. Beast studied other creators & identified why & how their videos worked and/or failed. And he replied to almost all of his viewers comments to make a connection & learn from them. And he did a whole bunch of other stuff over & over & over & over...until he became Mr. Beast.

What does that mean for a residential interior designer looking to win more clients, grow their business & make more money?

It should mean a whole lot, because YouTube is the both the world’s 2nd largest search engine AND the world’s 2nd largest social media platform. And, just like TikTok (but not Instagram), YouTube is based on the interest graph…not the social graph.

What does that mean for you?

It means that when people search YouTube for interior design or interior designer, YouTube has the ability to build your brand unlike any other social/search platform on planet Earth.

So what do I do now?

If you want (need) to start using video content (video podcast, demo day videos, before & after videos, tiles being installed, reveal day, etc) to build your business brand, you need to take some lessons from Mr. Beast.

  1. Make videos

  2. Don’t quit making videos

  3. Keep making even more bad videos

  4. Critique your videos

  5. Study YouTube analytics - conveniently, there are lots of great YouTube videos on YouTube analytics

  6. Ask other people to critique your videos

  7. Learn from your mistakes

  8. Embrace the suck & keep making more videos

  9. Study Mr. Beast & other YouTube creators

  10. Study interior designers with successful YouTube videos

  11. Keep sucking until your videos suck less.

  12. Never quit. Mr. Beast didn’t.

And if you’re an interior designer trying to use video content to build their brand...let’s chat.

We’re working with a bunch of really smart people to create the BEST business education content for interior designers, and video content & video content marketing is a big part of our plan.
