The Chairish Podcast - 2023 Real Estate Update: What Every Designer Needs to Know - 49 min

In today’s episode, host Michael Boodro discusses the current state of the real estate market and what every designer needs to know.

Real estate and interior design are intimately connected. When mortgage rates went up, sales slowed down, and we heard the first rumblings that the two-year design binge during the pandemic might be coming to an end.

So what happens now?

Three real estate professionals - Leonard Steinberg of Compass, Amanda Pendleton of Zillow, and global luxury expert Mickey Alam Khan—weigh in on what they see ahead for sales and rentals, why they feel buyers and sellers are ready to accept a “new normal,” why there’s no easy solution to housing’s affordability crisis, and the many reasons the interior design industry has to be optimistic about what’s ahead.

Trade Tales - How Noz Nozawa learned to invest in herself [Rebroadcast] - 1 hr 12 min

In this re-broadcast episode, host Kaitlin Petersen chats with Noz Nozawa about how she left her 9-to-5 marketing job to start her design business, taking a major gamble with her career.

It was in that precarious state that the San Francisco designer grabbed hold of what she could control, namely by tightening her purse strings. The firm’s slow, incremental growth worked to a point—until suddenly, Nozawa switched gears. Noz tells Kaitlin about abandoning that scarcity-focused mindset, investing in her team’s wellbeing, and envisioning a future in which the industry starts to disclose its pricing.

AI and Chat GPT aren’t going anywhere, so in this solo episode, host Rachel Larraine is exploring the ways we can use it to our advantage as designers.

As designers and business owners, we are often managing a lot at once and using multiple different programs to do it all. In this episode, host Rachel Larraine chats with Erinn Valencich, founder of StyleRow, about this amazing platform that every designer can benefit from having.

As a designer herself, Erinn realized that all of us were using 5 or more different programs to interact with our teams, vendors, and clients—there was no program that did it all. And so she brought together a team and built one! We talk about the StyleRow platform and why streamlining our processes through one program is valuable and essential—not just for our experience as the business owner, but also for our client’s experience.
