The Interior Design Business - Work Smarter Not Harder - 1 hr 1 min
In this episode, the IDB team explores ways that designers can sustain and grow their businesses by working smarter not harder in the company of Freeman Studio's, Mathew Freeman, the President of the British Institute of Interior Design and Anna Burles, Creative Director and Founder of Run For The Hills.
It seems the only way designers and architects can achieve the quality results that their clients expect is to produce drawings and other information in such detail that there is no room for misinterpretation on site and that nothing could possibly ever go wrong.
But was this always the case? Or has something fundamentally shifted? And if so, how can designers do less and still achieve the perfect product for their clients?

Design Biz Survival Guide - Heidi Callier - 36 min
No two paths are the same. Someone may know what they want, go to design school, and land a job out of college. Another person could try other careers before deciding to learn more about interior design. Regardless of the level of education or the length of time it takes to get there, both could very well reach the same conclusion.
Today, host Rick Campos welcomes Heidi Callier to the podcast. In this episode, Rick & Heidi discuss the evolution of her widely respected brand and the impact that becoming a brand has on the continued growth and development of her interior design business. They discuss her approach to supporting projects across the country, her team structure, and her streamlined project selection process. Heidi also shares the process of developing her first book, due this Fall, and her collaboration with long-time friend and photographer Haris Kenjar.
Show Highlights:
How Heidi got into the design business and the necessary experience to get her foot in the door.
The benefits of working in a showroom when you’re first starting in design.
How the design landscape has changed and expanded after COVID.
Being intentional about only putting out work that you want to bring back.
How Heidi is handling collaboration opportunities and retaining her brand image.

The Affluent Creative - Harness the Power of Instagram to Build Your Brand, Part 2: Hashtags and Who To Follow - 55 min
In today’s episode, host Melissa Galt is continuing her two-part series on the impact of Instagram on your business and how to harness its power to build your creative brand.
In the last episode, she talked about why you should be using Instagram, what to post and when to post it, and a few other nuggets such as how to create your bio and design your grid. In today’s episode, Melissa dives into how to make sure that you are seen on Instagram–because what good is it to spend your precious time on Instagram if it is not getting you that needed client traffic?
I wanted to focus an episode exclusively on hashtags and who to follow because simply posting without engaging or deploying hashtags in a strategic manner is going to be a big, hairy waste of your time. The point of using hashtags when you post is to get you found faster. And I’ve spent a lot of time geeking out over these hashtag tips to save you time in that trial and error stage and help you target exactly who you are looking for through the words they are using. These strategies will help you to approach your engagement in an efficient and targeted way so you’re not just pulling at straws trying to get your clients to find your posts and interact with your content.
In this episode, you will hear:
What hashtags are and how to use them to your benefit through localized tags and project tags
How hashtag blocks can save you time when posting
Why it is so important to strike the perfect balance of low-use, mid-use, and high-use tags
Where to look for followers that will help to increase your client traffic

The Business of Home Podcast - Orior's approach has always been bold (and a little crazy) - 55 min
Irish furniture brand Orior has an improbable history: Started in the late 1970s by the husband-and-wife duo of Brian and Rosie McGuigan, the company began in a small town near Belfast in the midst of the Troubles. 40 years later, the furniture is still manufactured in the same town, but the McGuigan’s son Ciaran has brought the brand to New York and given it an edgy, cosmopolitan look. On this episode of the podcast, Rosie and Ciaran McGuigan tell host Dennis Scully about getting through tough times, leaning into their Irishness, and why being bold—and maybe a little crazy—has always been part of their company’s DNA.
