Interior Design Business Platform Comparison

We created Interior Designher as a tool to help residential interior designers do business better.

Our industry is made up of solopreneurs & micro-sized businesses in which the owner is not only the principal designer, but the head of marketing, human resources officer, logistics guru, office manager as well as the person who tidies the office & makes the coffee.

Until fairly recently, our residential design firm Robb & Company was in the exact same boat. For years, company founder Nicole Robb ran a solo practice & handled each & every task by herself. As business grew & demand outstripped supply, Nicole had to turn away clients. It was time to grow the business.

  • Certain tasks like bookkeeping & architectural drawings were outsourced.

  • Assistants were hired.

  • Software solutions were brought on board.

Including a SaaS business platform designed exclusively for interior designers.

Transitioning to an interior design business platform hasn’t been simple however. We tested out 4 different business platforms before finding the one that was best suited for our business :)

A big reason why we had to test out 4 different platforms was the confusion we experienced comparing features between the different platforms. Bouncing from website to website trying to see if we were comparing apples to apples was a big pain.

So, because I’m a big nerd, I…

  • analyzed each interior design business platform and created a spreadsheet with every single feature I could find, then I

  • created a Google Form highlighting each of those features plus additional questions for platform creators, then I

  • contacted the top interior design business platform companies and asked them to complete the form

  • then I put all the info from the form into another spreadsheet, which I turned into the fancy-schmancy form you see in the video below

Because we love all you interior designers, if you want a pdf of our little comparison tool, all we need is your name & email & we’ll send you a copy asap.

Due to competition between platforms & technological improvements, all of these business platforms are in a constant state of improvement…features added, usability improved, etc.

Because of this, we will update the comparison spreadsheet as the platforms evolve. Version 1.0 of the Interior Design Business Platform Comparison was created in September, 2022. As we update the spreadsheet, we will email you the newest version.

  • If you want to receive updates, make sure to whitelist emails from douglas@interiordesignher.com

  • If you don't want to receive version 2.0 of the tool, there is an unsubscribe button at the bottom of all of our emails...just know that we will be sad to see you go :(
